I understand you completely, savagehenry and the opportunities provided to your profession by the industry. I'm a software developer and creating solutions to problems is also opporunity for me.
There actually are in many cases better alternatives than using some of the software MS provides. But the reason it takes a while for something like that to be recognized is the unwillingness of users to learn something different. Too many people just simply accept what's in many cases unwanted. Ultimately we as consumers have the control and we use it with our purchase and time.
And I hope that MS attitudes with the xbox aren't positive only because they are in a very competitive market with it.
At end user level it really doesn't make any difference whether you use Word or Word Perfect, Netscape or Internet Explorer people just want to get there work done in an efficient manner, it's only the geeks like us who care about the in's and out's and the why's and wherefores!
Well not really and here is where Dubs is right. MS wants you to think that because they will take every opportunity they can to inject their products in and get the user entrenched to where the cost of exit is painful and expensive. They have been found guilty of illegal behavior and their windows division is still awful when it comes to performance but more importantly support.
Now all that aside and to MS's credit, the xbox division seems to be run by some much more reasonable people. We would never see a 3-year warranty for a windows product (or any warranty for that matter).
I would definitely agree there are far more idiots on Live but there are idiots on PSN, too. Even though I have a headset sometimes I don't use it because I just want to relax and not listen to somebody jibber jabber.
That being said I got bored of the MAG beta in about 5 minutes and never played it again. These games all seem like the same to me and it's more work than fun.
Chris Dahlen meets the director of interactive fiction documentary Get Lamp and remembers how rich a world that only costs the time it takes to write it can be.

I think Hell just froze over. Edge posted a stoy that involved used games not portrayed in a negative light.
You should be embarrassed about the way it portrays us and what sells to us. Congratulations on being 29.
